Migrato is an open-source PC migration tool developed by publisher miragecze, designed to simplify the process of moving files, mail, settings, and programs from an old computer to a new Windows PC over a Wi-Fi network. The software is currently available at version 0.9.0, with two versions having been released in total. Aimed at users setting up a new machine or replacing aging hardware, Migrato falls into the system utilities and data migration category, offering a local-first alternative to cloud-based transfer services and vendor-locked migration assistants. To use Migrato, the application is run on both computers connected to the same network, and the two machines are paired securely using a PIN. All data is then transferred over an encrypted connection, with no reliance on cloud storage, no telemetry collection, and no requirement for a Microsoft account. The tool supports a broad range of transferable content, including known folders and custom user folders, Mozilla Thunderbird and Firefox profiles complete with saved passwords, settings of popular applications, and installed programs, which are reinstalled on the new machine via the winget package manager. It can also carry over Wi-Fi network profiles along with their passwords, as well as personalization elements such as the desktop wallpaper and installed fonts. Reliability is a central feature of the software: every transferred file is verified using SHA-256 checksums to ensure data integrity, and transfers can automatically resume after an interruption, making the tool practical for large migrations over less stable wireless connections. The user interface is available in both Czech and English, reflecting the developer's origin while remaining accessible to an international audience. As an open-source project, Migrato provides a transparent, privacy-respecting solution for anyone who needs to replicate a complete working environment on a new Windows PC without manual reconfiguration.
